A Decade Since Inception and Zlto Still Walks the Talk

When tackling systemic social challenges, intent means very little without presence. True community transformation demands showing up, stepping out, and standing shoulder to shoulder with the people behind the statistics.
Guided by the African principle of Umntu ngumntu ngabantu, a person is a person through other people, the Zlto team recently took to the streets of Johannesburg for the annual 702 Walk the Talk. Joining forces with city-wide champions like Jozi My Jozi, what might have seemed like a simple walk was a deliberate, unified stand for the unhoused population of Johannesburg.
As a digital rewards platform born as an internal venture before evolving into a dedicated social enterprise, Zlto’s core mission is to incentivise positive behavior and drive grassroots impact. Zlto tackles complex community issues that others write off as impossible. The team’s commitment to addressing homelessness reflects an unwavering refusal to look away from the city’s most vulnerable residents.
Partnering with platform anchors like Radio 702 and movement instigators like Jozi My Jozi served as a powerful reminder of what happens when a collective spirit takes over. Beyond raising awareness, the event highlighted the necessity of responsible giving, ensuring that corporate and public generosity translates into sustainable, long-term support for those living on the margins.
Reflecting on missions like these, the message is clear: nothing beats showing up for one another. Their walk may be over, but the shared work and showing up to end homelessness has only just begun.
This is but one way in which our impact comes full circle. A venture once deeply rooted in our fabric, goes independent, and continues the work in ways we never conceived. They are out there as a proof of our values at scale, and what we mean when we say, “Be Exponential.”
